Car: No. 16M | Team: McCumbee Elliott Racing | Manufacturer: Chevrolet | Status: Full-time CARS Tour LMSC | Hometown: Supply, NC | Age: 41

Career Highlights

Chad McCumbee is the elder statesman of the 2026 CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car field and one of the most versatile drivers in American motorsport. The 41-year-old from Supply, North Carolina, drives the No. 16M Chevrolet for McCumbee Elliott Racing, a team he co-owns.

McCumbee's national-series credentials are extensive. He made 105 starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series between 2005 and 2013, with a best finish of fourth at Daytona International Speedway. Beyond oval racing, he is an IMSA sports car champion — a rare dual-discipline accomplishment that speaks to his adaptability behind the wheel.

Off the track, McCumbee gained unexpected fame when he portrayed a young Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the 2004 biographical film 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story, adding a Hollywood footnote to an already unconventional career arc.

McCumbee returned to Late Model Stock competition in the 2020s and scored a CARS Tour victory at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2022, proving he could still compete at the front of the field against drivers half his age. His experience, racecraft, and ability to manage tires over long runs make him a consistent threat on the longer CARS Tour events.

At Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on April 5, 2026, McCumbee finished tenth — a workmanlike result at a track that rewards patience and experience.
